Turn off the Music

How odd it is for me, a music lover and the special gift it brings to shout out...TURN OFF THE MUSIC!  That is because, there is a special time that a parent gets to parents. That time is in the car.  I have witnessed for several years now that when my students and other students in general are picked from school, sporting events and other social events. I witness, I hear loud music coming from the cars. So when a child enters the car, there is not talking, no gestures of hello how was your day? Just loud music over the sounds of any simply conversation that could possible take place. What a waste! This time is so valuable, as a parent to connect with their child. It is a rich moment in time that you won't get back. It is one of the reason our society is breaking down, as we know it. The sounds of the radio/cd are more important then the living child we have in the car. Are you one of those parents? If you are. stop, turn your music off, listen to your child..talk to your child..be a parent! Be the role model you have the ability to be. Wake up and become a civility builder!  Wake up and be a parent!
